SAVION GLOVER &
STePz
Strathmore
N. Bethesda, MD
Tony Award winner (Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk) has stepped into his own legendary status in the tap world,
and in his newest show he pays homage to past tap masters to music that ranges
from John Coltrane to Prince to Shostakovich. With an ensemble of dancers, Glover
flashes from easy rhythms to daredevil moves that take the audience’s breath away. “Tap done by pros like these is electrifying—sparks
seem to fly when bodies move so fast, on the edge of abandon but in complete
control” (The New Yorker).
10th Anniversary Party: Join us at 6:30pm for a celebratory happy hour and toast the
Music Center’s first dazzling decade! Food and drink
specials will be offered, and we’ll have a champagne

BLUES NIGHT: GUY DAVIS
with WARNER WILLIAMS and JAY SUMMEROUR
Creative Alliance
3134 Eastern Ave
Baltimore,
MD 21224
A guitarist, singer,
actor and writer, Guy Davis-
Bluesman travels the world keeping acoustic blues
alive. Opening is A Little Bit A Blues with Warner Williams, one of the last
true blues songsters.
Whether Guy Davis is appearing on “Conan O’Brien” or nationally syndicated radio programs such as Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” “Mountain Stage,” or David Dye’s, “World Café,” in front of 15,000 people at a major festival, or teaching an intimate gathering of students at a music camp, Guy feels the instinctive desire to give each listener his ‘all’. His ‘all’ is the blues in its many forms and incarnations. Born in Maryland in 1930, Piedmont-style singer and guitarist Warner Williams is often referred to as a "songster" for the breadth of styles, sources, and songs he is able to perform, but he prefers the term "Guitar Man." He is joined by Jay Summerour on harmonica and Eric Selby on percussion for their Little Bit A Blues project.
Little Bit A Blues-Warner Williams & Jay Summerour with Eric Selby
TIX: $20, $17 mbrs. Door $23, $20 mbrs. door.

BELLY DANCE CLASSES IN TAKOMA
PARK
Saffron Dance at Takoma
Park
Roda
Movements
7014 Westmoreland Ave
Takoma Park, MD 20912
What do a N.A.S.A.
engineer, corporate lawyer, stay-at-home-mom and your local barista all have
in common? They spend their evenings at Saffron Dance learning something you
might not expect: Belly Dance. If you haven’t belly danced before, now is the perfect time to begin. To mark Saffron Dance’s 8th year as a hub for Middle Eastern dance, Saffron is
offering FREE introductory “teaser” classes through September
28th. These teaser classes give students a taste of Saffron’s signature 4-week Belly Dance Crash Course program. Created for
individuals who are coming to belly dance for the very first time, Saffron’s Crash Courses are structured and easy to follow — absolutely no dance
experience necessary! They are perfect for students to learn the basics
of Belly Dance. Each week, a new movement is introduced and drilled, building on and
incorporating elements from the prior weeks. Particular focus
is given to developing correct posture alignment, flexibility, arm positions
and paths, fundamental shimmies, basic hip accents,
introductory undulations, easy to follow traveling steps and

BELLY DANCE CLASSES IN
TAKOMA PARK
Saffron Dance at Takoma
Park
In Residence at Roda
To mark Saffron Dance’s 8th year as a hub for Middle Eastern dance, Saffron is
offering FREE introductory “teaser” classes from September
15th to September 28th. These teaser classes give students a taste of
Saffron’s signature 4-week Belly Dance Crash Course
program. Created for individuals who are coming to belly dance for the very
first time, Saffron’s Crash Courses
are structured and easy to follow — absolutely no dance experience necessary!
They are perfect for students to learn the basics
of Belly Dance. Each week, a new movement is introduced and drilled, building on and
incorporating elements from the prior weeks. Particular focus
is given to developing correct posture alignment, flexibility, arm positions
and paths, fundamental shimmies, basic hip accents,
introductory undulations, easy to follow traveling steps and
combinations. The program culminates in a performance opportunity so students
can share their new hobby with family and friends.
