A concert of traditional African-American songs and spoken word from the Civil War era, including shouts, hollers, code songs, signals, spiritual, field songs, and more. Hear the songs and stories that helped lead a people from enslavement to freedom.  Jubilee Voices will sing a program of traditional African American spirituals, punctuated with spoken word from historical figures such as Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Paul Lawrence Dunbar, and more. This series showcases the Washington Revels vocal ensembles in a family friendly, informal setting, followed by a reception and an opportunity to meet the artists.
