July 8, 10, 15, 17, 18
ADULT SUMMER CHORAL INSTITUTE
The National Philharmonic and Music Department of Montgomery College are joining forces once again this summer to offer choral music opportunities for adults, college, and high school students. The Adult Summer Choral Institute (July 8, 10, 15, 17, 18) invites adults to sing with members of the National Philharmonic Chorale under Artistic Director Stan Engebretson, Montgomery College professor Dr. Molly Donnelly, and National Philharmonic Associate Conductor Victoria Gau in four intensive rehearsals over two inspiring weeks. Adults singers (college age and over) with prior experience of singing in a choir will find this an excellent opportunity to perform in a large ensemble while building musicianship and vocal technique.
Every summer, National Philharmonic and Montgomery College collaborate on Summer Choral Institutes for High School/College age as well as Adult singers. It’s a great opportunity to keep your voice in shape over the summer and sing some great music. The rehearsals are Montgomery College in Rockville, but the performance is at the Cultural Arts Center in Silver Spring.
For more info contact: Victoria Gau, Associate Conductor and Director of Education
National Philharmonic
Tuition is $80.

July 14-18
HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE SUMMER CHORAL INSTITUTE
Offering an exciting opportunity for young singers to build their voices - and to learn from some of the best choral educators in the area. The week is designed to help high school (including rising freshmen) and college age singers strengthen their musicianship and foster their love of great music.
The Institute offers an intensive week (2:30 – 8:30 pm daily) of coaching, master classes, small- and large-group rehearsals. The week culminates in a final performance together with members of the Adult Summer Choral Institute and includes works sung by the combined choruses of approximately 130 singers. The Institute will be led by Dr. Stan Engebretson, Artistic Director of the National Philharmonic Chorale and head of Choral Music at George Mason University; Dr. Molly Donnelly, a nationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano and Professor of Voice and Choral Music at Montgomery College; Ronald Frezzo, Vocal Instructor at Richard Montgomery High School and the 2010 MMEA Music Teacher of the Year; and Victoria Gau, Associate Conductor of the National Philharmonic.
Tuition is $290.
Registration materials are available at www.nationalphilharmonic.org/education. Please call 301-493-9283 ext. 116 - or email victoria@nationalphilharmonic.org with any questions.
